Little Moon is an emerging preschool community for children 3-6 and their families in South Berkshire County, MA.

We are in the early stages of creating a small Montessori school rooted in community, nature, and respect for the child. This work is growing slowly and thoughtfully, with the support of community and a shared belief that young children deserve places where they can be safe and flourish.

As we continue to lay the foundation for our school, we are seeking community partners, families, mentors, and supporters who believe in this vision and feel called to help nurture something meaningful into being.

We invite you to join us.

On Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At Little Moon, we honor and celebrate human diversity in all its forms, including culture, identity, family structure, language, and ability. We are committed to creating a learning environment where every child and family feels a sense of belonging, respect, and care.

We strive to ensure equitable access to meaningful learning experiences and to continually reflect on and improve our practices so that inclusion is lived each day in our community.

At Little Moon, by honoring each child as a whole being - mind, body, and spirit, we foster a sense of safety and belonging that supports the natural growth and unfolding of self-esteem, curiosity, and wonder.

Our prepared classroom is intentionally designed to be a joyful, peaceful, and purposeful place. Children experience joy through free choice and the mastery of personal skills at their own pace. They are peaceful as  Grace and Courtesy is taught in the classroom which creates a peaceful, respectful, and harmonious environment. Lastly, they are purposeful for the children engage in meaningful, satisfying hands-on “work” real-world tasks that they choose and complete to master coordination, independence, and focus.

Our mission is to bring together Montessori education, outdoor exploration, and experiential learning to support the whole child. This full, integrated approach is grounded in educational research and supports cognitive development, social-emotional well-being, and a lifelong love of learning.
